Investigative Program - PRB/Birkin S3 steering columns

During a recent inspection of a late-model PRB/Birkin S3, it was noted that there was some movement in the collapsible section of the steering column. The movement occurred at the top of the collapsible section of the steering column at a small weld that prevents the solid square coulmn sliding inside the outer square tubing.

The problem has only been found on a single vehicle. This vehicle has been used extensively in motorsport so would have experienced much greater loads than a normal street vehicle.

PRB is conducting an investigative program at this stage to determine if this is an isolated occurence, or if a repair program is required. PRB requests that owners inspect their steering column, and email us at prbnsw @ optusnet.com.au telling us if, or if not, there is a possible problem.

If more clarification of this issue is needed, call your PRB agent or the factory on 02-97425652
